In fact, the Ana Woods logo is an illustrated daisy! My mama and grandmother infused my childhood with whimsy, creativity, and childlike faith. Daisy was a fairy that visited our garden and left encouraging notes for my sister and I. If we ever meet in person, I'll tell you the whole story...but for me, daisies symbolize finding magic in the ordinary.

Daisies are my favorite flower

Mitchell and I went to senior homecoming together and never looked back. We were married in a little white church on a cloudy November day, and it was truly the best day of my life. Besides being incredibly kind and a true gentleman, Mitchell is the best cook I know. Dinnertime at the farmhouse is always a feast!

The hospitality. The food. The landscape. Although I have lived most of my life in Iowa, I was born in Nashville and spent a few years of my childhood in Kentucky!  While I might not be a southern belle, I do find so much joy and inspiration from the South and am always ready to travel.

The South has my heart

I love to sit in silence and enjoy nature, a good book, or conversation with a dear friend. As a photographer, this character trait has served me well as I am very observant and can anticipate moments before they happen! While I'm not afraid to direct and take the lead, I find some of my best work happens when I'm left to silently observe and capture.

I am quiet by nature

As a little girl I was 100% certain I would grow up to be an author. Storytelling is my favorite art form and I'm still enamored by the art of weaving together a story with words (and photographs). Although my dreams of writing fiction have not come true (yet), you can find me writing content for small business owners over at By Ana Woods!

Writing is my second love

Be Thou My Vision. Come Thou Fount. Amazing Grace. The Old Rugged Cross. How Great Thou Art.
I can listen to these songs on repeat and never tire and would love to learn how to play them on piano. Don't be surprised if you see my crying behind my camera if these songs are played at your wedding, I can't help it!

old church hymns make me cry

I am unashamedly enamored with the "olden days". Maybe it was all the Little House on the Prairie I read as a little girl or how charming I find simple living...but regardless, I'm obsessed. Here at the farmhouse we grow our own vegetables, enjoy farm fresh eggs, and dry our clothes on the clothesline out back.

I'm quite old-Fashioned

No cream or sugar, please! I'm one of those rare people who actually loves the taste of coffee. Pair it with biscuits and jam or one of Mitchell's chocolate chip cookies and I'm happy as can be. When we moved to the farmhouse I was ecstatic because I now have a front porch and rocking chair where I can enjoy my morning cup of joe. Heaven on earth!

I like my coffee black

And I'm a total communications nerd.

I have my degree in communications

“Certainly not—at first. But they are very pleasing women when you converse with them. Miss Bingley is to live with her brother, and keep his house; and I am much mistaken if we shall not find a very charming neighbour in her.”

Why do you love film so much?

TImeless Artistry

When I look at my grandparent's film wedding photos I'm always struck by how timeless & authentic they feel. There is a certain soul about their wedding album that is hard to put my finger on. Maybe you feel the same way? I shoot film because I want YOU to have photos that will stand the test of time.

While both digital and film cameras have a place in my camera bag, I gravitate towards my medium formant film camera whenever possible. Film photography is slower and more intentional than digital photography because there are only sixteen photos on each roll. Every image is crafted and framed correctly before I ever press the shutter which results in photography that is more thoughtful & artistic. Far from being posed and stiff, film photography has taught me how to anticipate candid moments and capture emotion with immense care.

Nothing and everything! After your session I'll have your film developed and scanned. You'll receive your images as digital files in an online gallery and can download & print as you please! In that sense, nothing changes but what does change? The gorgeous quality, color tone, depth, and softness that film brings to your precious memories.

Our goal is to provide you heirloom-worthy, frame on your walls photographs. Instead of delivering thousands of photos that will end up on your computer, we focus on providing fewer but better images. Think about it, the photos of our grandparents are so treasured because there are so few of them. Every photograph tells a story and illustrates a season of life.
